Astana-Trans-Oil was established to fill a critical gap in Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure: the absence of a genuinely integrated, internationally capable operator that could manage petroleum assets from the wellhead in Kazakhstan all the way to the world’s major trading ports. While the country’s upstream sector had matured significantly with fields like Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak reaching full production, the logistics and storage infrastructure connecting Kazakhstani production to global markets remained fragmented. We built our foundation on the Tamdy gas field, invested in certified LNG and CNG storage and processing infrastructure, and progressively expanded our terminal presence internationally — establishing high-performing storage facilities at Rotterdam, Houston, and Fujairah that now serve as cornerstones of our global logistics network. Today, Astana-Trans-Oil manages petroleum products across the full spectrum from crude oil to refined products, LNG, LPG, and chemicals — transported by pipeline, road, rail, barge, and ocean vessel.
